Original Item: Only One Available. This is a fantastic, rather rare musical instrument from WWI. This is a Fanfare Trumpet, also known as a Herald Trumpet and it was used for ceremonial purposes. These types of trumpets were often used during Royal Processions as well as military events such as change of command ceremonies and or award ceremonies. The condition is quite nice aside from the expected denting in the sheet brass construction. The shape is still original though there is a slight bend in it. The Austro-Hungarian coat of arms is soldered onto the bellhousing and is in very good condition. It does have a crush to the end of the bell flare near the kranz / garland, and some other denting from service. It measures 36 inches in overall length.

A fanfare trumpet, also called a herald trumpet, is a brass instrument similar to but longer than a trumpet, capable of playing specially composed fanfares. Its extra length can also accommodate a small ceremonial banner that can be mounted on it.

It differs from its precursor, the Medieval buisine, by being coiled rather than straight, and from the clarion trumpet and natural trumpet by possibly having valves.

Comes more than ready for further research and display.
